 Veggie balls in hot sauce is a delicious dish made with a combination of chopped vegetables that are deep fried and served with hot spicy sauce. It is a quick and easy to make vegan recipe that gets prepared in a few minutes. You can serve this with noodles, chapatti, fried rice or you can even serve it as a starter with hot sauce as a dip.

Ingredients for veggie balls

  • Grated cabbage – ½ cup

  •  Grated carrot – ½ cup

  • Grated beans – 1/4 cup

  • Grated cauliflower – ½ cup

  • Big onion – finely chopped ¼ cup

  • Ginger – garlic paste – 1 tsp

  • Soy sauce – 1 tsp

  • Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

  • Corn flour – 1-2 tbsp

  • Salt – as required

Ingredients for hot sauce

  • Finely chopped garlic – 3 tsp

  • Finely chopped ginger - 2 tsp

  • Finely chopped green chilies – 1 tsp

  • Finely chopped spring onion white – ½ cup

  • Finely chopped spring onion greens – 2 tbsp

  • Schezwan sauce – 2 tbsp

  • Soy sauce – 1 tsp

  • Vinegar – 1 tsp

  • Corn flour – ½ tsp

  • Sugar – 1 tsp

  • Oil – 2 tsp

  • Salt – as required

How to make veggie balls

  • Pour oil in a broad non-stick pan and heat it. Add onions and sauté for a minute. Then add ginger garlic paste and stir well. Add the grated vegetables and continue stirring for 2-3 minutes till they become soft.

  • To this mixture add soy sauce, salt, corn flour, pepper and stir well. Switch off the flame and allow it to cool.

  • After it cools completely, divide the mixture into equal portions and roll them into balls.

  • Deep fry the balls in a thick bottomed pan at a medium flame. When they turn golden brown, remove them from pan.

  • Place them on a plate and drain the excess oil using an absorbent paper.

How to make hot sauce

  • Take a non-stick pan and heat oil. Add garlic, ginger and green chilies. Sauté for a minute and then add spring onions white. Stir the onions on a high flame for a minute and then reduce the heat to medium.

  • To this, add schezwan sauce, spring onions greens, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, corn flour, salt and a small cup of water. Cook on a medium flame stirring occasionally till the mixture boils and thickens to form a sauce.

  • Put off the flame and add veggie balls to the hot sauce. Allow it to remain in the sauce for a few minutes.

  • Then serve hot on a plate. Enjoy the tasty balls in hot spicy sauce.
